What is history, and why should we study it?
Objective - The student will be able to explain the importance of studying history by giving specific examples.
In this activity, we will be predicting why it is important to study our past - in other words, why you are not wasting your time by taking a history class for an entire school year! Chek out the video above to begin, and jot down some notes or ideas. Then, select 1 or 2 of the resources below the first letter of your last name. Skim/scan/read your selected source this evening. As you read, note the author's justification for studying history. In bullet form, write down these justifications and examples for studying history as you can on the note sheet you received in class. We will use this information in class on Thursday!
NOTE - some of these resources are college-level, so skimming is just fine in this activity.
SPEND NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES ON THIS PART OF THE ASSIGNMENT!
